Notes:

  1. IMPORTANT - This is the last upgrade that will be provided for free to Aarfie Premium theme license holders. We have maintained Aarfie Premium theme upgrades - beyond the original Aarfie theme version - to show our sincere gratitude to our earlier users, but unfortunately we need to plan the close of the Aarfie theme delivery system to allow us to keep moving forward. To access future upgrades, Aarfie Premium theme license holders will need to purchase an upgrade at Big Cartel Theme Upgrade.
  2. To upgrade your theme refer to How do I upgrade my theme?
  3. Admin messages added in this upgrade are never displayed to your customer. They are only visible to you if you are logged into your Big Cartel account.

Bug - Product Page Sharing Tool

Affected Themes:

  1. All Standard Themes

Bug Details:

  1. When viewing the Product page in the Big Cartel admin Customize design area (a.k.a. the preview area), sharing tools may produce a browser certificate warning and sharing tools (i.e. Like, Tweet, Pin it, etc.) may not display correctly.
  2. This bug has developed recently due to an update of the Big Cartel preview area and/or AddThis sharing tool script creating a conflict.
  3. This bug has no affect on public pages. Sharing tools still work correctly and without error in your shop outside of the preview area.

Short Term Fix:

  1. Anytime a browser certificate warning is produced, click cancel to halt the script. Unfortunately, as the preview area reloads pages continuously, you may need to do this many times while working with the Product page.
  2. Continue to set your sharing tools per standard procedure - see Custom Option Notes > Product Sharing Options - despite the warnings mentioned above and save your settings when finished.

Long Term Fix:

  1. We are currently working on the next theme core release, which includes a fix for this bug. This release is expected to be launched within the next 8 working days.

Big Cartel Blog Page Upgrade - Version 1.1

Template Details:

Upgrade Details:

  1. NEW - All post content links open in a new browser window.
  2. NEW - Options for post title links and main blog link behaviour: new window, same window or disabled.
  3. NEW - Options for sharing tool icon styles.
  4. NEW - Options for sharing tools: Facebook Share, Pinterest Pin it and email.
  5. IMPROVED - Core CSS styles moved to Aarcade-hosted file for easier single file installation.
  6. IMPROVED - Core Javascript updated.

Notes:

To upgrade your template, delete all of your current blog page content, delete all blog page related CSS added to your custom CSS area and then follow the complete installation process - refer to Big Cartel Page Template - Blog | Aarcade.

Big Cartel Wholesale Order Form Upgrade - Version 1.1

Theme Upgrade - Automatic

Upgrade Details:

1. Slide shows are now fully responsive down to small screen devices (e.g. iPhone) and include previous and next slide navigation via mobile device swipe gestures - expanded functionality - ref.

2. Vimeo and YouTube videos are now automatically resized to work with theme responsive layouts - new functionality - ref.

3. Slide show styles added - expanded functionality - ref.

4. Slide show effects revised to suit new responsive features (we got rid of the overly flashy ones) and random image order option added - revised functionality - ref.

5. Image zoom styles added - expanded functionality - ref.

6. Social network link styles added - expanded functionality - ref.

Instagram and Pinterest options, shown above, will be added in the upcoming core upgrade.

Notes:

1. This is an automatic upgrade and is already applied to your standard Aarcade theme. No further action is required.

2. If you notice any odd behaviour at your shop, reload your shop page (click the circular arrow icon in your web browser control bar) to ensure that all of the updated assets are loaded correctly.

Big Cartel Wholesale Order Form

A good wholesale order solution is something we need ourselves and know would be handy for a lot of our small business friends. So this is one that has been on our to-do list for a while.

Thanks to our wonderful friend Nicole (darngoodyarn.com), we finally got the push we needed to prioritise the development of a Big Cartel Wholesale Order Form.

Now available from our Extras section with plenty of features, including:

  • Works with any theme (with valid coding).
  • Works with Big Cartel’s standard checkout process.
  • Display wholesale discounted prices.
  • Password protectable.
  • Product category filter interface allows easier browsing of products.
  • Product image viewer displays all images for each product in a pop-up gallery.
  • Stock level check / correction as quantities are entered.

Creating an “order via email” link

Check out the newly posted support article How do I allow my customers to email their orders? for an example that makes use of the recent core 6 upgrade (i.e. Big Cartel API code enabled in Insert Content pages).

Notes:

  1. If you only wish to address the PinIt button bug (item 5 above), you can download the latest theme package and install only the product.html (singular, not plural) to the Product theme page using the theme file tool.
