Big Cartel Wholesale Order Form

A good wholesale order solution is something we need ourselves and know would be handy for a lot of our small business friends. So this is one that has been on our to-do list for a while.

Thanks to our wonderful friend Nicole (darngoodyarn.com), we finally got the push we needed to prioritise the development of a Big Cartel Wholesale Order Form.

Now available from our Extras section with plenty of features, including:

  • Works with any theme (with valid coding).
  • Works with Big Cartel’s standard checkout process.
  • Display wholesale discounted prices.
  • Password protectable.
  • Product category filter interface allows easier browsing of products.
  • Product image viewer displays all images for each product in a pop-up gallery.
  • Stock level check / correction as quantities are entered.

Creating an “order via email” link

Check out the newly posted support article How do I allow my customers to email their orders? for an example that makes use of the recent core 6 upgrade (i.e. Big Cartel API code enabled in Insert Content pages).

Theme Upgrade - Core Release 6

  1. Custom menu links via custom options has been deprecated. Replaced with “##Page Title” advanced page navigation control - expanded functionality - ref.
  2. Big Cartel API code enabled in Insert Content pages - expanded functionality - ref.
  3. Responsive layout now enabled by default - changed custom option - ref.
  4. Support for hidden inputs added to custom options for the newsletter sign up form - expanded functionality - ref.
  5. Addressed issue with PinIt button displaying %20 in place of spaces - bug fix - ref.
  6. [[storename]] and [[copymark]] shortcode deprecated. Use Big Cartel API and HTML instead - removed functionality - ref.

Notes:

  1. If you only wish to address the PinIt button bug (item 5 above), you can download the latest theme package and install only the product.html (singular, not plural) to the Product theme page using the theme file tool.

New Theme: Tupelo

Tupelo, the latest addition to Aarcade themes, includes all of our standard powerful features as well as:

  1. Expanding product grid: automatically fills full browser width
  2. Fixed sidebar navigation: remains in place as you browse products
  3. Colour-editable pop-out menus to display your product sub-category and sub-page menus
  4. Pop-out menus for social links and sharing tools with editable labels
  5. In menu newsletter and search forms
  6. Controllable menu order, i.e. category menu first or page menu first

We put a load of work and love into our themes and we hope you find this evident in the end result.

New Stuff: Support, Previews and Extras

What we’ve been doing:

  • Re-writing support articles (including new streamlined installation instructions and tool) to accommodate Big Cartel’s new “Customize design” area. Visit Aarcade support.
  • Recapturing all standard theme previews to better showcase the power of in-built features including shortcodes, sub-page menus, category introductions, auto-categories and more. Visit Aarcade themes.
  • Adding all of the new pages (used in the theme previews) to our Extras section, so you can grab them for free. Visit Aarcade Extras.

Notes:

  1. We will be updating all related theme previews in the shop over the next week. This will allow preview of the new responsive layout functionality as well as many of our other unique features which are currently not represented therein.
  2. As part of the above-mentioned theme preview update, we will be developing extra pages to showcase the new shortcodes including a portfolio page and an updated press page. As with our current special pages, these pages will be added to our Extras section and will be available for free.

New to the Extras Collection

Some new (and free) page templates are now available in the Aarcade Extras collection, including:

Bug Fix

Affected Themes:

  1. Uptown Lite
  2. Dowtown Lite
  3. Heartbreaker Lite

Bug Details:

  1. Causes Artist drop-down menu to be displayed incorrectly on all Lite themes.
  2. Causes incorrect layout on Downtown Lite theme only.

Fix:

  1. Re-download theme package, using original order link (i.e. the link used to initially retrieve your existing theme).
  2. Install Layout page only, per standard theme installation instructions, i.e. layout.html file installs to Layout page, overwriting all existing content. Only the Layout page needs to be installed for this fix.

Pinterest & Artist-based Content

January was spent getting back in the swing of things and sorting out some miscellaneous projects for Aarfie customers.

Now that February is here (already!?) we’re stepping back on the road towards many exciting additions to our Aarcade products and services. To get things started, we have rolled out a small theme upgrade today to enable the following new features.

+ Pinterest

Product page sharing options have been expanded to include the popular Pinterest “Pin It” button. After you have upgraded your theme, refer to the Product Sharing Custom Option notes to enable your Pin It button.

+ Artist Insert Content

Like the existing category-based “insert content” functionality, you can now insert content (e.g. artist descriptions, slide shows, etc.) into your products and product pages based upon your Artist Categories. After you have upgraded your theme, refer to the Insert Content support article to make use of this new feature.
